We are seeking a seat at the table and a voice to collectively bargain. We propose to represent the nursing staff at UofL Hospital to include RN, LPN, PCA, POA, and UC job titles.
While not an exhaustive list, some of the issues we’re interested in tackling include:
- Safe, sane staffing: Mandatory Ratios
- Resource nurses to assist with patient care, not management tasks.
- Unified float policy – Floating only when it’s safe for everyone involved. Not because it’s convenient to management.
- Break Nurses and Techs – Not included in the staffing matrix.
- Charge nurses out of staffing – Empowering them to actively lead the unit.
- Accountability, transparency, and open dialogue.
- Progressive discipline policy.
- Improved pay scales – compensating people for experience.
- Improved benefits – including health care, retirement, and more.
This list will continue to evolve as more people share their visions, input, and ideas.
